Your poker type
Are you familiar with all the types of poker players known to man? Do you know what category you fall into? Here is a guide that would help you classify yourself as to what type of a poker player you are right now.Are you a calling station? This poker player is the one who always calls, may he/she has a good hand or not. They have no playing dynamics at all and their chips are always easily depleted. To avoid being this type of poker player, you may want to analyze your cards more. If you think they are not good enough, then fold. If they are good or you think you can make others believe that they are good cards, then raise. Don't try to put your money all in one hand. Conserve it for the better ones.
Are you a rock? As predictable as the calling station, the rock always folds and only bets on the nicest hands. He/she is too fearful to bluff. If you want to stay longer in the game, you can be a rock, but it would be hard for you to be a big winner. Why? Because in the final showdown, you are either the small or the big blinds. Therefore, the longer you wait for the nice hands, your chips are rapidly depleting because of the blinds. Then, the more aggressive players beat you.
Joining the rock and the calling station in the ranks of predictability is the loose aggressive. You are a loose aggressive type of poker player if you raise and re-raise whenever you can. You are clearly bluffing because you cannot certainly get good hands all of the time. When you raise or re-raise, you are saying that you indeed have good hands. You cannot expect others to believe you, thus, nobody will fall for your bluff.
If you are not any of the three of the above, then you might be a weak tight type of poker player. This is a better type as compared to the three, because he/she examines his/her cards more than these three do. The problem with this poker player is that he/she is too gullible and believes in bluffs.
Lastly, but certainly not the least is the type that all poker players should aspire to be, and that is the tight aggressive player. This player computes his outs carefully, considers other options and plans his/her actions. He changes his plays so that the others will be clueless as to what his strategy of the moment is.
