Michael Mizrachi Comes From a Family of Poker Players

Some poker professionals develop their interest in the game because of the fact that they come from families of poker players. Well, this is specifically true in the case of Michael Mizrachi. His parents may not be poker professionals, but his two siblings are both poker professionals. As a matter of fact, it was his older brother, Robert Mizrachi, who introduced him to the game of poker. Robert has experienced a number of money finishes in World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker events. Michael Mizrachi has a twin brother named Eric Mizrachi who is also poker player. All of them seem to have been bitten by the poker bug aside from their brother, Daniel Mizrachi, who preferred to work as a professional magician.

Born in Miami, Florida on January 5, 1981, Michael Mizrachi originally wanted to become a physician. He was already in college trying to obtain a degree in medicine when he decided to drop out in order to play poker on a full time basis. Robert played a big role in the decision of Michael Mizrachi to venture into professional poker.

One of the victories of Michael Mizrachi happened in January 2005 when he participated in the World Poker Open of the World Poker Tour. The perks of being given the chance to play at such tournament included winning fifth place and competing against such poker professionals as Scotty Nguyen and Daniel Negreanu.

Michael Mizrachi was more victorious in February 2005 than in the previous month because he won a World Poker Tour title, he won US$1,859,909, and defeated poker giants, including Erick Lindgren and Ted Forrest.

At the Gold Strike World Poker Open that was held during the fourth season of the World Poker Tour, Michael Mizrachi only became a runner up to poker professional Scotty Nguyen. However, he was able to earn his second World Poker Tour title at the next event, defeating such poker giants as Lindgren and John D'Agostino. Michael Mizrachi did not only win the cash prize of US$1,173,373, but he also won a 2006 Cadillac Escalade automobile.

The first time that Michael Mizrachi joined a World Series of Poker event was on April 30, 2004. The poker game he played was a No Limit Hold'em game wherein he finished eleventh and received US$12,620.

In 2005, he participated in several events featured at the 36th Annual World Series of Poker tournament. He did not earn a single World Series of Poker bracelet but he made seven money finishes. As of 2007, Michael Mizrachi has had ten money finishes in the World Series of Poker.

Well, it does not seem like Michael Mizrachi is regretting his decision to have not pursued medicine, does it?
